    “Der Ort Lautenthal ist ein sehr schöner, beschaulicher, kleiner übersichtlicher Ort. Es gibt einen gut bestückten Supermarkt und viele Möglichkeiten, lecker zu essen. Eine Sünde wert sind die Windbeutel-Spezialitäten und die XXL Schnitzel. Es gibt ein Freibad, das Bergbaumuseum, einen Schaustollen und viele weitere Möglichkeiten, seine Tage zu verbringen. Es stehen viele Wanderwege unterschiedlicher Länge zur Verfügung, leider fehlen ab und dann mal Hinweisschilder, damit man auf seinem gewählten Weg bleiben kann. Ich denke aber, dass die Schilder zum Sommer hin erneuert sind. Uns hat es in Lautenthal sehr gut gefallen, wir werden wieder kommen.”

    “Wir kamen direkt nach dem Hochwasser an. Bewundernswert wie die Einwohner ihr Schicksal angenommen haben. Die Beseitigung der Schäden war bereits in vollem Gange. Der Ort ist klein und ruhig. Die gastronomische Versorgung eher mager bis auf das Schnitzellokal, welches leider immer voll war. Einen Einkaufsmarkt gibt es. Für Familien mit Kindern ist eher der ehemalige Osten des Harzes empfehlenswert. Was leider sehr häufig aufgefallen ist, dass diese Region nicht sehr auf Touristen eingestellt ist. Das Personal sehr häufig unfreundlich und auch die Gaststätten nicht mehr ganz auf neuestem Stand.”
