    “Unfortunately we did not visit Hessich Oldendorf as we had a busy itinerary, but the countryside around was beautiful and peaceful. However Rinteln had a lovely town centre with lovely old buildings and also Hameln (of Pied Piper fame) was beautiful and both well worth a visit. Places we visited tended to be further afield Schloss Marienburg is a fairytale castle worth seeing. We wish we had more time to see everything.

    Prices seemed to be very much comparable with the UK in the main. We bought food and drink from Aldi and Penny supermarkets for our main evening meals and ate in the cafes of places we visited, again restaurant prices which were comparable to the UK. We came away saying that we would happily live there.”

    “In Hessisch Oldendorf (ongeveer 8 kilometer verder dan Langenfeld) zijn er voldoende winkelmogelijkheden (o.a. Lidl / Aldi) en een paar sfeervolle eetgelegenheden. In Hamelen (weer iets verderop) vind je alles en die (historische) stad is de moeite van een bezoek zeker waard. De omgeving van Langenfeld is bij uitstek geschikt voor rustzoekers en wandelaars. Maar met deze plek als vertrekpunt zijn er ook mooie fietsroutes (mountainbike en e-bike) te bedenken.”
