In the heart of a pretty medieval village in the Corbières, between the Mediterranean and the castles of the Cathar country, you'll love the patio terraces around which the day rooms are arranged. Other shaded areas and a solarium offer reading, playing and relaxing areas.
This large gîte is housed in a character house in the heart of a typical Corbières village. The name of the gîte, ‘La Capelagne’, comes from the former purpose of this house, which was once a presbytery. The attentive owners will be delighted to share their knowledge of the area and its geology, and to accompany you on walks or cycle rides.
On arriving at the gîte, you will be greeted by a flower-filled courtyard, which is very pleasant in summer. You enter the house through a long living room with a fireplace. Opposite is the kitchen area with all the necessary equipment and a large dining table. There is direct access to a veranda-dining room for informal dining, and a patio with barbecue where you can enjoy breakfast in the sun.
On the first floor, a hallway with a small study leads to :
- a shower room with a large walk-in shower, a double washbasin and a separate toilet.
- 3 bedrooms:
- on one side, a 1st double bedroom with a 160cm bed;
- on the opposite side, a family area comprising a through bedroom with a 160cm bed, which communicates with a bedroom with 3 90cm beds (including 2 bunk beds). This room is also accessed by an outside staircase from the courtyard.
On the second floor: you arrive in a lounge with a sofa-library-games for young and old, and a bedroom area with 2 single beds.
This area also gives access to :
- a bedroom with 2 single beds (90cm)
- a bathroom with a large walk-in shower, double washbasin and separate WC.
- a sun terrace with views over the village rooftops, hills and vineyards.
There are a number of signposted routes for exploring the magnificent local countryside, including hiking trails (including the ‘geologist's trail’, with explanatory panels), as well as mountain biking and cycling tours (documentation available in the gîte).
In summer, the village organises small festivals, with meals and various competitions, providing a very friendly and festive atmosphere.
Three bicycles are available in the shelter of the gîte.
