Winter fun in a holiday home

Off on a skiing holiday!

The green light has been given for the winter season 2016/2017, and the rush for the best accommodation in the Alps and other European mountain ranges has begun.

Popular accommodation for a skiing holiday

Holiday homes and apartments that lie directly on the ski piste are particularly in demand. Instead of having to laboriously commute to the piste with all your skiing equipment, just open the front door and the skiing and snowboarding fun can begin.  When searching for the right accommodation, you’re sure to discover what you’re looking for in our holiday ideas section. Among other things, we have put together all the holiday homes and apartments, which are located near the piste, for you here. In addition, you’ll find lodges in romantic mountain locations as well as XXL holiday homes, which offer ample space for a winter holiday with the entire family or your circle of friends.

Ski areas throughout the whole of Europe

If you don’t yet know which ski area you should go to, we recommend that you first take a look at the Alps. The range is at its greatest here, and regardless of whether you choose Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy or South Germany – there are large and small top-class ski areas that offer the right surroundings for every taste and talent.

But it can also be worthwhile looking outside of the Alps. There are some very family-friendly ski areas in both the German Central Uplands and in the Czech and Polish Giant Mountains, which are usually less expensive than those in the Alps. And a successful winter holiday can also be spent in Scandinavia. Norway, Sweden and Finland offer the best conditions for downhill and cross-country skiing in their ski areas.

An overview of the most popular ski areas in Europe as well as many other tips for your skiing holiday can be found on our info page.

Travel dates

Those who definitely want to spend the winter holiday over Christmas and/or New Year should, incidentally, not delay booking. Christmas time and the turn of the year are by far the most sought-after travel dates in the winter season. Please also note that Saturday, which is specified as the arrival day by many owners, falls on 24 and 31 December this year. If you are therefore reliant on Saturday as an arrival day, it is advisable that you begin the journey as early as possible in order to be in the holiday home in time to exchange presents or attend a New Year’s Eve party.

German Carnival week is also usually in high demand. It falls on 25 and 26 February next year.
